Late Night Concert

Desert Sounds

A late-night concert with clarinetist Jonas Frølund and saxophonist and composer Cecilie Strange. The programme includes Lil Lacy's Sonoran Desert, performed by Frølund on bass clarinet — jazz-inspired and rooted in Lacy's childhood memories of summers in the Sonoran Desert. In dialogue with this piece, Cecilie Strange improvises on Lacy's material, and the two musicians engage in shared improvisation where composition and spontaneity merge.

A playful, fantastical concert for children and families inspired by Astrid Lindgren's Pippi Longstocking. Pippi is a bold, fearless and wonderfully independent girl who reminds us that you can become whoever you dream of being — a spirit that reflects the festival's celebration of female composers and creative voices. Actor Ellen Hillingsø reads from the story, accompanied by the Steinaa Trio.
